The goal of this project was to make a material that quickly generates realistic looking vegetation that interacted with light in an convincing way, Minimizing leaf clipping was particularly challenging but after a few attempts I was able to use the normal map to give the illusion that overlapping leaves are at different depths and are oriented differently.
The following presets were made using this generator:
- Birch Tree Branch.
- Maple Tree Branch.
- Pine Tree Branch.
- Cottoneaster Shrub Branch.
- Ivy Branch.
- Willow Tree Branch.
Made entirely in Substance Designer and rendered in Marmoset Toolbag, Only flat planes without tesselation were used in the preview images.
